Good to Great: Why Some Companies Make the Leap...and Others Don't by Jim Collins

5.0

I appreciated how data driven this book was, it was interesting to read about how more nebulous topics of "greatness" in companies were researched and distilled down into simple takeaways.

My favorite part of the final conclusion was Collins' argument for "why be great?" and the argument that it is no more work to be great, in fact it often simply involves focusing less effort into things that don't matter and putting everything all-in on what does matter (your hedgehog concept).

Each of the points on the path to greatness were wonderfully woven together with data-driven examples, quotes from interviews, and just enough historical context to emphasize the magnitude of decisions that were made in the past. I would consider this a must-read for people running a business or in positions of leadership, and a very interesting and insightful read for anyone else.
