maludee 's review for:
Little Women
by Louisa May Alcott
This was like the book version of a warm tray of sugar cookies. It was charming, but I got tired of it after a few hundred pages. I can appreciate how groundbreaking this book was at the time in portraying its women as people, but it just wasn't that enjoyable to read. Some of the characters felt underdeveloped and lightly sketched. Especially the men (Mr. Brooks, Professor Bhaer), but also some of the side characters like Marmee and even Amy to some extent. For a 500 page book, I think Alcott could have devoted a couple more pages to sketching these out more clearly.
