What You Are Looking For Is in the Library by Michiko Aoyama

5.0

This is a book perfect for reading slowly. I wanted to take it in in and absorb the words as much as I wanted.

The everyday struggles of ordinary people was depicted naturally in the characters. I love the changes happening within each character. It may seem small or even unnoticeable to others but to them and the people around them, the small changes make the biggest difference in how they see themselves and the world they are in.

The librarian, to me, felt like someone who would be impossible to meet. She somehow felt unreal, like someone from a different world, someone magical. But the more is revealed about her the more she felt real but also more magical.

The whole book, even when showing very real circumstances, gave a fairytale feel to it. Especially the librarian who I think would be the fairy godmother if this was really a fairytale.

I am reminded that even in the daily mundane things we do, there is still magic. The magic being whatever it is that a person learns and realizes about themselves and how they make use of it.

I've never read something as beautiful as this in a long time. Maybe because I also read this at the right moment in my life that I feel so deeply moved by it. Definitely one of my favorites now! 💖
