One of my favourite Discworld books! This was the latest on my discworld reread (skipped Soul Music as I read it recently and didn’t feel like rereading it so soon) and god I enjoyed it. As usual, very, very funny whilst also managing to discuss social and political issues with a degree of nuance and insight.

The exploration of Cohen’s character as this elderly hero realising that life is actually finite is incredibly well done - his anger at hearing about how the world is moving on from the era of barbarians and heroes and that many he used to know have now died is a real high point.

Loved the depiction of the ancient  “Great Wizard” as opposed to the ‘great wizzard’. Wish there could have been more revealed about the history of the original Red Army.
