The Plot by Jean Hanff Korelitz
3.0
Plot summary: Writer Jacob Finch Bonner steals the plot of a book from a (now) deceased student and passes it off as his own (kind of, because as acknowledged several times within the book itself, no idea is 100% original). Book becomes a huge success. Afterwards, someone starts anonymously messaging Jake about how he’s a thief. The rest of the book deals with Jake trying to get to the bottom of who is harassing him and the of course, the origin of the plot.
Review: I may have read too many thrillers at this point but it was really, really obvious who the antagonist was from very early on, so the book didn’t have much of a plot twist. That said, it was still an enjoyable read because this was a well-written book, and the antagonist is so ruthlessly cruel and cold that it was almost refreshing. I especially enjoyed the fact that this was a book about a book, and that’s a personal favorite of mine as far as sub-genres go.
