The Screaming Staircase by Jonathan Stroud
4.0

Another gem from Stroud. Though no character was as witty as Bartimaeus, Lockwood, Lucy and George's individuality and uniqueness comes to the fore in this book as Stroud weaves a mystery set around a worl of ghosts becoming a daily menace all over the world since the past fifty years or so. With ghosts and Visitors thought to be the greatest peril, even in dangerous times one cannot forget the perverse and capricious nature of a few vile human beings who can even put creatures of the dark to shame. An interesting book, though predictable, but the predictable parts were offset by some really good writing which kept me hooked to the book always awaiting the next scene. Stroud's own unique way of writing continues to blaze forth in this book as well. Read it, you won't be disappointed.
