Silver Elite by Dani Francis
3.0
So this is basically every fantasy/dystopian mash-up you've ever read. Literally. 3 stars. You should read it.
It's marketed as dystopian, but let's be real... nukes don't give people magical powers. That’s fantasy, babe. Let’s call it what it is. Honestly, I had moments where I feared this was written by AI. But my final guess is REBECCA YARROS.
That woman stay killing my favorite characters.
Now, let’s talk about Wren. Girl is so dumb it hurt sometimes. She does a series of absolutely ridiculous things, but nothing tops her decision at the end of the book. The whole moment plays like a Hallmark movie on fast-forward and I couldn’t take it seriously. Wren, sweetie, how are you supposed to save the world when you can’t even keep your disguise on? & FOR A MAN?!
HOWEVER... IN THE END I WAS ONCE AGAIN FOOLED.
That said, if you're in the mood for a fast-paced, trope-heavy fantasy that doesn’t take itself too seriously (and neither should you), Silver Elite is FUN! Just... don’t go in expecting logic or the next classic.
