When I started this I thought I'd read it before, but it turns out Christie also used the premise of the first chapter in a short story. It certainly follows a familiar formula and I recognised some of her signature character types but I do like that I always know roughly what to expect from a Poirot novel. I liked the setting of the island hotel and as usual I didn't guess the ending. I did find the solution slightly implausible but it was a quick read and it kept me hooked throughout which is what I wanted from it.
Graphic: Death and Suicide attempt
Minor: Racial slurs
