Sapiens: A Brief History of Humankind
by Yuval Noah Harari
Overall, I don't think any of the main ideas are broadly objectionable, but he gets too many details and facts wrong, and goes on too many odd unsubstantiated tangents, for me to really enjoy reading it. The parts that are fun are fun, but it stops dead in its tracks every so often for some weird error that he really should have caught, e.g. the years homo sapiens arrived in America, water power's use in medieval forging, gold as commodity vs fiduciary money etc.
