read a chapter a day for a time in November and got 79 pages in (approximately; there's about 60 pages of appendix I didn't count in that) that way before I put it down for a while. Not because I didn't like it (I really did) but it felt thick and hard to get through even if it was captivating. Picked it up again mid-January and barrelled through the rest of the book in a few days. I really liked it. The academic-style writing took a bit to get used to; it took me a while to stop reading like I had to commit the book to memory. Did not write down a single thing while reading and do not regret that for a second. <3
