The Platform (2019) meets The Mortal Instruments in this YA Fantasy set in a level-based school with no outside communication, where teenagers use magic to fight a variety of basically-demons (mals).

For all that I felt a little too many similarities to Cassandra Clare's world (mundanes, witchlights, demons, worldwide enclaves, etc), and the extensive exposition that you have to get through to really understand the worldbuilding of this school, A Deadly Education was really enjoyable, especially in the second half, and I loved the entire journey our main character, El, goes on in finding herself, her friends, and her place in the Scholomance.
