Fifty Shades Darker
by E.L. James
similar to the first book, i found it…mediocre. the ups and downs of the romance became predictable and the drama storylines were so close together. the timeline of this book, even more than the first, kept me from being able to believe it. the best drama of the book involved leila, but then that was over halfway through the book. the other drama just didn’t build that suspense. the true timeline of the story took place over about two weeks i believe, maybe less. i just can’t wrap my head around it. the unrealistic-ness of the story took me out of it. at some points i was able to be involved and immerse myself in the story, which is what gave it three stars. the missing two was for the rapid timeline and for the drama that was either a short lived plot line or, to me, was unfinished. only one meeting dr. flynn?? i would’ve like more meetings. perhaps even couples counseling. kate was so mad at the end, but that discussion was just so quick, it should’ve been a bigger talk between kate and ana. i’m stuck with a too quick timeline and drama that seems constant. maybe it would have been better with one or two drama plot lines. the peak of the mrs. robinson drama should’ve been better. it felt too fast once again. all that build up and i’m left disappointed and unsatisfied. in fact, that pretty much sums up my experience with the book. lots of build up but disappointed and unsatisfied.
