The Road to Unfreedom: Russia, Europe, America by Timothy Snyder

challenging dark hopeful informative tense slow-paced

4.0

I struggled with the first part of the book with Snyder describing Ilyin’s philosophy and how Russia began to employ it. Once I was able to grasp the overall concept it went back a bit smoother. I found the second half highly informative with the reflections towards how Trump was helped to win the 2016 election. I would be interested to learn what Snyder would have to say about the situation after Trump’s re-election and with the current way of things within Russia & Ukraine.
