This book was slightly confusing some of the time, but absolutely enthralling all of the time. Some episodes it told of were very random and seemed to come out of nowhere but they all painted a beautiful picture of the island and its inhabitants. To say it gave me a new appreciation for Magical Realism is an understatement. But do be careful when reading - it's not for somebody looking for a quick easy read. I think you really have to be in the right mind (receptive, open, and not distracted or looking for something light and breezy) before you read it.
