Better than the first book and story has deepened nicely. Still suffers from too many POVs, and the author sometimes will have huge character shifts explained by another character instead of through a POV, which is an odd choice. Like Etta explains Winslow’s change of heart about Kennit, but only after we see Winslow defending him, which was a confusing moment because none of that was explained prior.
