Idk what to make of this, this was a weird one.
I loved to see Steph and Alex again, I feel like they stayed very true to themselves. Steph could've dropped a few more nerdy references. But the general vibe was the same and they're really cute. Sadly we didn't get that much of their relationship, because the plot got in the way.
To be honest I was a little sceptical when I first read the premise of this book, I feard it would feel a little forced or go off the rails in a way that I don't like. I was correct. I can't even really pinpoint the problem, but the plot was just not my thing. It's not that I don't like stories with politics involved, but it felt like such a weird match with Alex' powers somehow? Idk I felt like Alex and Steph didn't belong in this type of story for some reason. I just couldn't get behind the plot sadly.

Still, Alex and Steph and the fast pace made this an enjoyable read. I also still really love Alex' powers, empaths are just really, really cool Maybe I'll try the comics starring these two, the premise of them seem more up my alley.

Also: If I read another book that overuses the word "holler" this much within less than 100 pages in the forseeable future, I will riot. Sadly I forgot to keep track of every use, but at some point I counted 6 times within 6 pages. Sometimes only two sentences apart. Why?? It infuriated me so harddddd. Why didn't anyone tell the author to try some synonyms?? (Luckily this was only an issue for less than half of the book, but it was still awful.)
