The Girl Who Saved Christmas by Matt Haig is a great follow on from A Boy Called Christmas. Another fantastic tale of how important believing in magic is, especially for the young. To believe something impossible is possible is a great lesson to teach any youngster, especially in today's society. The story is both sad and uplifting, drawing on life's ups and downs and several historical wrongs involving the treatment of children. The books follow on beautifully from one another, and Matt Haig takes his story and plants it firmly in your mind's eye, so you are almost living beside Nicholas and everyone he meets on his journey to becoming Father Christmas.

Amelia lives in the magical town of Elfhelm, newly adopted by Father Christmas and Mary Christmas. When the very jealous Easter Bunny launches an attack to ruin Christmas, it's up to Amelia, her family and the elves to fight off the forces of evil. The illustrations by Chris Mould help make the world and plot fascinating enough to keep you reading chapter to chapter. I haven't read Father Christmas and Me, but it'll be on my Christmas radar!
