So goooooooooooooooooooooooood.

Really, this and Lirael should have been one book, but I understand that would have been an unreasonably large mass market paperback. Very much the same "HOLY FRICK THE WORLD IS ENDING WE GOTTA GO" feeling as the latter half of Sabriel, although BETTER because of the Dog and Mogget. Honestly I think Mogget is my favorite character at this point. I love him. I don't really understand him but I love him a lot.

I really, really enjoy when magic meets WWI-era modernity. It is the best experience. Every single time anyone from the Old Kingdom sets out to mess with the poor, frightened border guards, I'm in the corner popping popcorn like ALRIGHT. IM READY. LETS DO THIS. I wish there could be an entire book about the border.

Also... why does Garth Nix continue to end his books FIVE MILLISECONDS after the resolution of the main conflict? Like? Give me some more! What is Nick's mysterious new path! Are they going to take Lirael to the capital city! Is she going to live with them! Will she take Sam to visit the Clayr's library! What is the future of foreign relations between the Old Kingdom and Ancelstierre! How are they going to cart the orbs of destruction all the way across the entire Old Kingdom! Which characters have stress breakdowns after the immediate danger is over! What exactly is a Wallmaker!

Please, friend. There's got to be room for a LITTLE more than "and the bad guy was defeated and they all turned and walked away, the end." What came after? Even just an epilogue with hints. Please. I am dying.
