Clockwork Prince by Cassandra Clare

5.0

Man, am I high on the feels or what?
If I had any initial doubts about loving these books as much as I love TMI, I am completely clear of them now. I am in absolute love with this trilogy, these characters, everything.

I adore Jem more than ever. He is the most beautiful, sweetest soul and I want him to have the entire world. HE DESERVES GOOD THINGS TO HAPPEN TO HIM FOR ONCE!

I am clear on where I stand with Will now too. While I do not dislike him, I am not his fan (I initially had been in the very beginning). I'm rooting for Jem and I want Will to get his ass out the way. I feel kind of bad for him, though, honestly. Life truly hates him.

I also really love Tessa. I had my doubts with her character at first but now she's so much more than she was in the first book. She's been given so much more depth and her character has filled out so much. I really want her to find out the truth of who and what she is and be happy.

I really was afraid of hating these books because I hate love triangles but Cassie Clare has done wonders with this trio. I usually hate the girl in the mix the most because I feel like she's being an idiot and playing with the boys who've fallen for her but I honestly cannot pull hard feelings for Tessa because there are actually believable situations and feelings and frustration that go into her thoughts about Jem and Will that aren't just "wow, how do I choose between two beautiful men fighting for my affection?" It's so much more and I'm so grateful I'm loving these books.

And have I mentioned how much I love this world? Not only do I love the Shadow World, but set in the 1800s? SIGN ME UP A FEW HUNDRED TIMES, PLEASE.
The dresses, the customs (that the Shadowhunters ignore, lmao), the language, the everything. It's so beautiful.

The third book is currently in the mail. I'm so ready for this. I'm ready to have my heart broke into a million tiny pieces.
