Nineteen Minutes
by Jodi Picoult
Wow. Such a complex book. There is so much to talk about and consider in this book. I think Jodi does a great job at telling the story from all sides and makes it really hard to not empathize with all sides a little bit even ones that society tells you that you shouldn’t empathize with at all because they are villians or it is unforgivable act (which it might be but it’s also more complex than that). Things often aren’t black or white and there is more to what drives people than what people see pin the outside—they are in fact very complex sometimes. That being said, I felt like the ending was lacking. The beginning was so strong and we had so much to think about and consider and then it seemed like the ending just ended flatly. Still definitely a book I will recommend people to read because it raises a lot of questions and makes you look at situations differently but I just wanted a more dramatic ending…or just something more at the end…but that could also be intentional because life doesn’t always work out how we want…
