The Godfather by Mario Puzo

Not a single person in this book is free of sin but for some reason almost all of them are lovable. Sonny was a cheater but his love for his sister was admirable. Michael married Appollonia even though he had Kay but his revenge was a treat to read. Hagen was involved in every crime known to man but his intelligence was deserving of respect. And most of all the Don himself. He had committed many crimes but for some reason each and every one of them was justified in some weird way.

As for the style, I fell in live with the writing style of Puzo. It is a perfect blend of classical and modern style i.e., easy yet pleasant to read. The way each character is introduced (even at the end) with a vivid description of their dress, the atmosphere, the scene... I love love love it.

Of course, this novel wasn't made to make people fall in love with the mafia but I think we can acknowledge the good some of them have done like the expiration dates on milk cartons started when a mafia boss' wife died of expired milk. He used his connections to make it compulsory. Idk why but this random article struck with me.

Anyways, all in all, I recommend this book.
