A dark and atmospheric story, set within gothic and bone chilling worlds.
From the first page you're sucked into a plotline that's filled with intrigue and mystery that just gets thicker and thicker, encouraging you to devour the story, just so we can get some answers as to what on earth is going on.
I want to point out how beautifully written this world is. The world building itself is hauntingly beautiful. The author really did a number in creating an environment that sets the tone for a tale of sinister delights, and it's what makes me love this book the most.
The subject matters that this story takes on, from a hearing impared MC to the representation as a whole within the story is well done, and gives this book an edge on others that I haven't seen done yet.
BUT...
It just missed out on a little something for me, a slight disconnect. At times, I found myself lost and confused, which took me out of the story, and I feel like the characters and plot could have been given more depth as the basis of the plot is really good. So it all just fell a little flat for me, and I feel a smidge disappointed.
Repetition is annoying, I'm not sure why books are doing this lately, but you don't need to persistently repeat phrases and names to hammer down a point.
Overall though, I quite enjoyed this and it's not bad at all. I got through the book pretty quickly and would recommend lovers of dark gothic reads give it a try.
