"g" Is for Gumshoe: A Kinsey Millhone Mystery by Sue Grafton

4.0

This was a good read, although not very smooth. The inclusion of Dietz made the story more interesting and added a different twist to the normal Kinsey-does-everything-by-herself thing. I think I like it better- I hope Grafton brings him back in future books. The hitman aspect didn't seem quite real- as Messinger had multiple opportunities to kill Kinsey and didn't act on them. The other story interested me more- the one about Agnes Grey and her family mystery. The middle of the book was a bit slow, when they didn't know much and we had to read about the uninteresting banquet. Aside from that, it was still a great read and one I would recommend to someone who has already enjoyed another book from this series. As a stand-alone novel I'm not sure it would fly because you need to be invested in Kinsey and her world to really appreciate the story between her and Dietz. I'm ready to read the next!
