Alphaland by Cristina Jurado

5.0

A fantastically dark, visceral, and unsettling collection of stories, weaving between scifi and horror, haunted by monsters that bite and devour. Most of the Jurado's monsters lurk beneath the surface of the everyday world, or beneath the skin (sometimes beneath our own skin), waiting for us to be alone. There is blood and guts,

This was my first time reading Jurado's work, and she has a strong, powerful voice that commands your attention right from the start. An excellent read for anyone who like their speculative fiction on the dark, weird, raw side.
