Claiming Ground by Laura Bell

5.0

Claiming Ground moved me. Laura Bell has a way of sharing deeply intimate experiences without having to directly say what they are. She possesses this delicate balance of exposing harsh truths without excuses or blame. She weaves her life through the beauty of Wyoming with ease. It truly draws you into the book. It’s almost cozy, if that makes sense. Her writing is almost lyrical or psalms. I found myself laying beside her as she camped, sharing morning coffee with her as she began her daily roundups, and observing the painful losses as if I were in same timeframe with her. This was an absolutely beautiful memoir.
