The writing was pretty decent, except for the overuse of... the ellipsis... The concept was also decent.
The it was quite bland, and I didn't feel a sense of mystery while reading it. Everything was resolved too quickly and easily. Paranormal investigation isn't a bad concept, but it feels like the book was missing on, well, investigation. Also Max was quite a boring character.
Also, I found the book stressful rather than cosy. I don't know what the author's intention was, but the blurp made me think of a cute small town coffee shop. Instead we get all of the stressful things about a small town - people being judgy about things that happened in high school (the main character very much included) - and the stress of running a business. I must say I didn't find the constant stream of this-and-this-peaked-in-highschool cosy in the least. Maybe it wasn't meant to be.
