Did not finish book. Stopped at 24%.

I appreciate that this book is meant to serve as a piece of historical fiction but I felt that it got so lost in the history that it came at the expense of the storytelling. I couldn’t at all connect with any of the characters and their struggles because they felt extremely distant. I feel that what is important in any book is to show and not to tell, this book unfortunately just consists of a substantial amount of telling.
