This was excellent literature. Tens tens across the board.

The plot was great. The magic system was even better though at times, it was a little hard to understand because sometimes things were introduced to us so… abruptly (?) and never explained that well so there were times I kind of had to be okay with the fact that I do not comprehend what I’m reading.

The world building was also really really great but like above, some things were hard to wrap my head around. Like the dome and the Bloodlurst prison bit was kind of confusing.

Other than that, the world building was great. Also loved the Indian rep! The food, the clothes, the palaces, the different skin tones, the words. All of it was so cool to learn about.

I think the pacing was one of my favorite thing about this book. They were constantly in life or death situations and they had to act fast so I like how I could feel their urgency through the pacing of the story.

This wasn’t just Jatin and Adraa’s story. Each character has a backstory and each one is explored. I feel like I knew every character and their motivations and I loved that. Sometimes authors will introduce a character we’re meant to care about but they never give us enough backstory to make us care about them. This book wasn’t like that! Also appreciated how the characters weren’t all so one dimensional (Fiza).

….. AND FUCK MOOLEK! ME AND ALL MY HOMIES HATE MOOLEK!!!!….
