Truly enjoyed this story of mending sister relationships and overcoming their own obstacles after living through a traumatic childhood experience!

This book would have been an easy 5 ⭐️ read if only the author gave us more of the background story. I really wanted to delve deep into both of the sisters storylines but the author only gave us tiny quotes at the beginning of each chapter clueing us into what really happened to them. I think if the author started the book off by setting the scene of them fleeing the compound showing us the dark and horrifying experience they went through we would have connected with the sisters on a deeper level.

Other than that major complaint on my end (sorry I just love to loose myself in the storyline of the characters and is an important factor in my 5 ⭐️ books), the story of the two sisters healing from their individual traumas was lovely. You see them as adults and how their trauma shaped them into who they are now and how they navigate their lives.

Maddy is an amazing character and I found myself excited to read her chapters and I wish the relationship would’ve built faster so we had a few more scenes with them.

Ava is a complicated character and again I wish we had a resolution to her trauma as earlier so we could get to seeing her and her husband reconnect. I did find Ava’s character to be a bit boring because of how closed off the author made her but as the book went on it did get better and we get to understand why.

Luuuuke the man that you are! A sweetie town vet and single dad who falls in love with the woman he saved when they were kids? Stop it right now, I adore his storyline!

All in all, I would rate this a solid 4/5 ⭐️. Beautiful storyline I just wanted a little bit more grit added in so I could drown in the character a bit more.
