The Girl You Left Behind by Jojo Moyes
4.0

Wow! I sped-read this one via audiobook for a book club but honestly I probably would have gobbled it up just as fast if I didn't have a deadline. (And that's saying a lot coming from me, because I usually do not read a ton of historical fiction.)

I loved the timeline split and how we got to know each of the characters. I think if it had stayed in the 1940s the whole book, I would have been too down or depressed, but it struck just the right balance. I liked the complicated nature of the romantic relationships, because in real life they are so rarely as black and white or as simple as some books paint them! I'm all for more realistic representations of love in the books I consume.

I'm so surprised at how much I enjoyed this book, truly. So glad I was pushed out of my comfort zone to read it!
