I finished this book a few weeks ago and can’t stop thinking about it! This was wholly unique and thought provoking. The only reason it’s not 5 stars is because I wanted a little more - the ending felt rushed.

Annie is a custom designed robot who cooks, cleans, and has sex with her owner Doug. She is the ideal girlfriend for him- until she starts to experience human emotions. Annie then becomes confused by the limits placed upon her and the confinement Doug has structured for her life.

While about robots and AI, this book has so many human layers to it. It made me think deeply about the roles a woman has in a relationship, feminism, and sex as a barometer for happiness in a relationship. I cared about Annie deeply and I related to musings and observations she had.  I’ll be thinking about this for a long time.

Fair warning: there are A LOT of descriptive explicit sex scenes which may bother some readers. IMO it was all very necessary to the story and framing/not gratuitous.
