A Spinster's Guide to Danger and Dukes
by Manda Collins
*A note that I didn't realize this book was the third in a series until the latter part of the book when the couples from the earlier books appeared and I realized that those couples must have had their own books from the way they have such large roles for only being in the last 15% of the book.
I didn't particularly enjoy this book, but I stuck around to the end because I was kind of curious about the ending, and I tend always finish books unless I really hate it. This book was full of cliches like fake relationships that I'm honestly a bit tired of, but I think one of the parts that bothered me the most was how quickly the main characters were attracted to each other from almost the beginning, were constantly thinking about how attractive the other was, and managed to fall in love in like 2 days. Also, this book was very repetitive with the characters repeating how important it was to save Violet, and how much Langham just wanted to help Poppy, and the way they just talked instead of showing the reader what was going on. I didn't care about the murder mystery because even though they kept talking about how important it was for Violet to be proven innocent, I felt know stakes myself and didn't particularly care about Poppy's sister or her concern for her.
The most interesting thing might have been the creepy Lucifer Society, but we never got a real explanation or look into what the members do, how deep it runs, or how dastardly it could be. But I suppose it didn't really fit in with this book in the first place. Anyway this book was something I had to constantly push myself to just finish.
