This book has so much heart and so much lesson that it's worth the read. The first four chapters that set up the environment and community Mira has grown up were particularly strong. As the first-born daughter of immigrants with a rambunctious younger brother, I felt so exposed. When Mira finds the ring, I don't believe her attachment to it is convincing enough to set off on this whole journey to track down the owner. Similarly, I'm not entirely convinced by the friendship that begins to bloom between Mira and Krish. It feels stilted and forced in places, but the story does move along and has some fun scenes.
