The premise of this book was promising however it didn’t deliver as much as I would have liked it to. It was a nice easy read though and I did enjoy some parts of the story.
I found the pacing to be all over the place, with the start grabbing your attention with the main character Josh’s slightly disastrous life at the forefront of the story but then I found the middle to be a little random and gap filling almost until the end which ended up being quite rushed. Some of the content almost didn’t need to happen and perhaps could have been replaced with what would end up being the build up to the conclusion of the story rather than that happening less than 10 chapters from the end of the book.
At times the characters could be a little hard to find likeable or root for especially when they’d sometimes make questionable life choices or say the wrong things haha. I did however enjoy the dynamic between the friendship group in the story as well as the relationship between the main character Josh and his grandfather.
Overall it was a nice book to read, just wish it could have given more than it did at times and then I would’ve rated it higher.
