Midnight Bayou by Nora Roberts

3.0

I know writers hate it when people keep comparing their new novels to past 'hits.' Kinda like people shouting at Dylan to play "Like a Rolling Stone" at all 500 of his shows. Still- Carolina Moon was so good, I kept trying to see if this one measured up.

Doesn't measure up to CM, but still a great read. Declan Fitzgerald is the main male character- Boston-bred rich blond dude who's fed up with his lifestyle, and decides he wants that hot bartender from the bayou down in Orleans. He fixes up a mansion, and all these ghosts start coming at him.

Seriously, it is a great read. I kept daydreaming about finding a Declan for myself. The thing with Nora Roberts, from the two books I've read, is she spoils you for real life men. Ah well.

I don't know if this complaint is legit, considering it's a romance novel and all, but there were way too many steamy scenes. Just when the story got good, someone had to go ripping off someone else's clothes...again. Or maybe that's just sour grapes on my part. ;-)

The ending's great- one part got a bit unbelievable, but Ms. Roberts is definitely a storyweaver.
