as always, madeline miller's writing is breath-taking! despite being so short, the story is AMAZING and conveys such deep emotions. while the original story was much happier, this really explores the misogyny and abuse that comes with control, which i absolutely loved. the quote

“If you were stone, I would chisel them off.”

genuinely gave me chills.
