Maybe I just don’t have the right context, but the dystopia itself feels unrealistic, and not much is done with it. It’s mostly about the method of punishment, but even that is undone. This gives the whole book a bit of an off feel, with it ending like it started, besides the main character’s growth, which is implied to just be partly him growing up
