Take all my favorite tropes, put them in a blender, add in amazing writing, top was a beautiful map, and you get this book. This one of my most anticipated releases of 2022 and it did not disappoint. To start with my favorite part of the book, the characters. Elowen is amazing. I fell in love with her immediately, and that love only grew as the book went on. She is strong, caring, complex, and truly fantastic. I could gush praise about her all day long. Of course, I loved the rest of the Band of Thieves as well, it's impossible not to. On top of lovable characters, I was also blown away by the writing of the book. Elowen's voice was so powerful. I felt fully immersed in the story, and there were so many amazing, quotable lines. As for the plot, it was also gripping. There was a great balance of small, wholesome moments, character bonding, and of course nail biting action. While I found it predictable at times, I still enjoyed every moment. I cannot wait to see what happens next and be reunited with the Band of Thieves for book 2.
