Rachel Hartman is a fantastic author. She brilliantly mixes an individual perspective with worldly problems, issues, and themes. It hits hard topics and makes them feel deeply personal in an organic way that doesn't throw it in your face or make you want to look away. Instead she makes you want to look at all the ugly of her world (mirroring our own) and think hard on it. Really amazing writing and fantastic series.
