My first cowboy romance!! I have sooo much to say about this book! I absolutely loved it. It was such a cozy read!! The setting was so charming and I felt so enveloped in Meadowlark. The characters were authentic & relatable. Let me start with Clementine “Emmy”: I loved the way Lyla wrote her character. The mental health piece was so good and I’m thankful to have a romance book that highlights it and shows the internal struggles Emmy experienced and was able to overcome. I love her down-to-earth yet sassy personality. Now, Luke: his brute yet gentle soul was so sweet to get to know. He cares so much for everyone around him & to see how he has developed into this kind man was so wonderful. 

All of the characters, Teddy, Hank, Amos, Wes, Gus were so loveable in their own way. 

The only thing I wish I saw more of was how Gus and Emmy worked through the main issue (trying not to spoil!) towards the end of the book. But overall, a lovely debut novel from Lyla and I cannot wait to read her next 2!!
