Beastkeeper by Cat Hellisen

4.0

This is such a beautiful story of coming of age, of falling in love for the very first time, of learning about oneself and realising that your destiny is in your own hands.

To be honest, I hadn't heard of Cat Hellisen before receiving this book in a subscription box, but I do hope to read more from her. I realize that I am discovering a newfound respect for local authors; I seem to be missing out on a lot of good stories!

Some people will call this book a retelling of the classic Beauty and the Beast, but I see it rather as a fresh new spin on the familiar; the girl is the Beast this time round and the curse is not broken by true love - if such a thing even exists.

I do believe that this book is perfect for mother's to read with their daughters or for parents to gift their children with. I really loved this book and I definitely recommend it to young and old alike!
