honestly stumped on what to say about this one. made me both feel depressed and annoyed and ABSOLUTELY UNDERSTOOD LOL ! at first i wasn’t too sure where things were going and didn’t think mr holden copperfield was too jazzy of a character - spoiler alert - he’s not, but that’s kinda what makes the book what it is. my late teen angst and hatred for peculiar oddities kinda really begun to show when i found myself relating a little too hard to holden and agreeing wholeheartedly to his often complaints! yeah he’s just a sobby white boy walking around the streets of york smoking and drinking too much and feeling sorry for himself but let’s be real, don’t we all at this age!? all in all yeah i ended up enjoying it more than i thought although in retrospect it’s not like the most incredibly written book - i mean i’ve read fan fictions more thought out than this. honestly a very average read, enjoyable sure but nothing too crazy. that’s all i guess, that’s all.
