I Got This: How I Changed My Ways and Lost What Weighed Me Down by Jennifer Hudson

3.0

I gave this book three stars because I like a good success story. Otherwise, it would have gotten two stars. The entire first half was more about Hudson's rise to stardom and how she was used to being the best until she got voted off American Idol. It glosses over the interesting parts of her life, like how she met her fiance and how she dealt with personal tragedy, and is a little too upbeat to be believable. The parts about how she started her whole family on Weight Watchers was interesting and fun to read, but I bought the book thinking she was going to be just like me: a fat girl who struggled with weight her whole life. Not a I-Thought-I-Was-Fine girl who decided to lose weight to get more Hollywood opportunities. In the end, I guess I just couldn't relate to most of the story.
