Charmed: Season 9, Volume 3 by Paul Ruditis, Constance M. Burge

4.0

The issues in this volume each have different story arcs (albeit with some links between them) and as such there were some I enjoyed considerably more than others. Overall though it was a very enjoyable read. The stories are smaller in scale than in the previous volume, and mainly focus on individual characters.

My biggest issue with this volume, and honestly the Charmed comics in general, is that the desire to please the fans sometimes takes priority over telling stories which actually make sense. Something happens in this volume particularly which seems inconsistent with both the worldbuilding and characterisation of the show, and I find that irritating. It makes the comics feel more like fanfiction than a licensed continuation.

The art is decent, although characters generally do not look much like they do on the TV show.  My favourite art appears in the final story, where black and white is used to great effect.
