God, this book was a roller coaster from start to finish!
I loved the relationship between the boy and Jess, which has legitimately made me tear up a bit. The main characters (including the father) were intricately well-written, everyone had their shades of gray that made me sympathesize with them on some level.
The novel starts with instantly grabbing your attention and leaving you aching for more, which led me to devour this book in just a few days. The horror, the in-between moments of calm/domesticity, the mystery, and the twist had me by the balls and wouldn't let go until I finished it up. I highly recommend you for those with Daddy Shoes (wink) and generational trauma.
Lowkey, with how fast I read this I kind of have a headache.
4.75 / 5
