Jon's Downright Ridiculous Shooting Case by A.J. Sherwood

3.0

There were many things I really liked in this book, including the connection between Jon and Donovan, the bit of humor, the anchor/bonding thing, the lack of relationship drama, and how Jon and Donovan had the advantage through all of their cases—everything worked out fairly quickly. It was an easy read.

I did think it fizzled out a bit towards the end though. Some things that rubbed me the wrong way, too. Jon having to go empathic felt very shoe-horned in for effect; surely they could have proved the culprit guilty in another way. I’ve read a character with DID before and psychic powers aren’t needed to figure that out. I didn’t see the point of the homophonic counselor they had to talk to in the epilogue either. Or why we got Donovan’s POV for it, when having Jon’s POV only until then had been one of the highlights for me.

Anyway, I’ll keep reading this series because I enjoyed about 90% of it quite a lot.
