Fuck this book. Just found out it’s an Anna Karina (never even read) retelling. This was fucking stupid I’m so mad....
Okay this was a harsh mini review the second after Vronsky died and I was really upset. But I truly wanted to love this book. I mean the love story was there!!! I was totally feeling the chemistry between Anna and Vronsky. They gave me butterflies and everything between them felt so true! It was a beautiful connection. But why name a book Anna K if you’re gonna add a whole other love story (Dustin and Kimmie)!??!?? It was so awful that I even skipped those scenes. Which made me sad because I never do that! (Now I understand it’s a modern retelling so that was secondary retelling was bound to happen) And then seriously a sex tape???? Like why? This book did not need that scandal? The author thought it’d be a fun twist to ruin this girls life no matter what? That’s so fucking lame. Then the dramatic ending of Vronsky dying the way he did?!? How rude! It just all felt way overly dramatic and that made me not like it as much.
