Seriously this book is amazing. Was I still TERRIBLY annoyed with Chaol and saying to myself “fuck this guy!”? Yes. It really was not as bad as I thought considering there is so much else happening with the plot. For sure some moments that I had forgotten about, especially at the end. The last 2 hours or so move so quickly, you’re bound to miss something or forget after it’s been awhile since reading. I’m such an emotional reader and that doesn’t change (much) with a reread, even some little things that I hadn’t picked up on the first time (#triggered) The way SJM writes her characters, even seemingly small ones, and then you get connected, is so so good. I fucking love The Thirteen. I mean, I did before too but a reread has really made me really appreciate them, along with Elide and Lysandra, hell, even Kaltain! Like such amazing badass, girl power energy happening in this book! Of course, we can’t forget the boys, but they just aren’t as badass (sorry, not sorry). This is truly a pivotal book in the series and you can tell as a reader.
