Read this for a book club knowing very little about it and enjoyed it more than I expected to. Definitely more character-focused than plot (don't read this if you expect a lot about the 'dark intoxication spreading through the town') however I loved it as a book about Elodie's obsession with Violet and being more than the matronly, ignored wife she has become.
Would have loved for this book to have more about the final events, and maybe lean more into the 'feminist' and 'sapphic' themes other reviews say it has-but overall I definitely enjoyed reading it, especially as a book I wouldn't have picked up otherwise!
