folding_words 's review for:
Sweet Mercy
by K.A. Tucker
I hoped with every page turn that the story would get better, the plot would make itself visible...but I waited in vain for 265 pages. So, of course, after I've suffered through this book, I got some opinions about it.
Gabriel is a total douche with a big dick complex who sometimes is not a complete piece of shit.
Redeeming qualities include:
a) does not sexually assault Mercy
b)has dimples
Mercy for the entire length of the book is controlled by her vagina but still has the audacity to name names the other women. Not cool sis!
Redeeming qualities include:
a) caring about her dad's life
b) wants to dedicate her life to a career in substance abuse prevention (not a very prominent trait since is only talked passingly in conversation).
The CONFLICT is something along the lines of: Will she get past the fact that he comes from drug money since her mom died because of her addition? Turns out: Yes, yes she freaking can.
The steam is supper dim, the way they go about is just plane uncomfortable to read (the ambien incident, the shower scene ) or maybe not my cup of tea.
90% in, I seriously considered to quit. Like how can this book be co-written by the same author who made me laugh, cry and fall in love under the Alaskan sky? Why do you do this to me, K A Tucker?
After I pulled through and, despite my better judgement, finished the damned book, I was met with a cliffhanger and all I can say is...thank for reading my review, it's the first and last of this series.
